Backroads of the South Shore History Symposium

Saturday, April 10th  – 10 am - 2:30 pm
Allerton Hall, Church of the Pilgrimage, 8 Town Square, Plymouth
The South Shore has been a favorite destination for summer travelers for generations. Local historians will present a series of mini-lectures on the area’s “summer folk,” examining the delights of seaside visiting over the centuries and the rise of modern tourism in the region. Revisit the grand hotels that once adorned our coast, remember the summer estates of the wealthy, many now vanished, and rekindle memories of family vacations to South Shore beaches, ponds, and woodlands. Sponsored by the Backroads of the South Shore, a local consortium of small historical societies and museums that includes the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. $15 admission includes breakfast refreshments. Reservations recommended. For more information, call 508-746-0012.
